Pat Lam has had a great season in charge of the Bears, bringing them to their first Premiership semi-final in over ten years and bringing their first piece of European silverware to Ashton Gate.
Not many know that he previously worked with Scotland Rugby as an Assistant back in the day when starting his managerial career. Regardless of historic relations, it is actually Wales that the 51-year old would love to coach.
In a comparison to New Zealand, Lam reckons that Wales produces "natural" players and believes that they could realistically be the world number one in the immediate future.
"Wales should have a genuine goal of being number one in the world," he told BBC Wales Scrum V podcast, "That starts with mindset and belief. But then you have got to start talking that way, you have got to start training and behaving that way, and that increases chances."
"I am just amazed at the ability of Welsh Rugby players", he jokingly remarked, "I am not advertising or trying to get a job or anything, but I would love to coach the Welsh Rugby team."
If the experiment with Pivac doesn't work, I would love to see Dai Young and Pat Lam scrap it out to be Head Coach of the Welsh Rugby team. However, that does make a terrifying prospect for us English, maybe take Howley back?
