Wales Online have broke an interesting story this morning confirming the backing of Andy Farrell and Gregor Townsend for a preferred switch to a larger, PRO16 competition. We would be re-treading old ground if we mentioned the bust ups the South African Rugby Union has had with the Quad Nations and Super Rugby competitions thus far this year, but it looks like a solution could be on the horizon.
It looks as if a strategy has been put in place to introduce the Sharks, Lions, Bulls and Stormers into the PRO14 which currently has clubs from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy battling it out on a weekly basis.
As a Rugby fan in the northern hemisphere, I would fully welcome the inclusion of South African teams into our competitions; the better the teams, the better the tournament and hopefully the better Rugby watching experience!
