Why Saracens Could Return to the Premiership Without Kicking a Ball

What are you playing at 2020 eh? Nearly 11 months in and you are still throwing curveballs at us! With adult, competitive, grassroots Rugby all but cancelled this season, it looks as if the Championship might be the next scalp on Covid's hit list.

There isn't even a provisional fixture list for a January start yet so it's now highly likely that the competition will not go ahead at all. With audiences and attendees not allowed at any sporting events in the UK, it has now been revealed that up to half of all second-tier Rugby clubs would rather cancel the 2020/2021 season altogether, than play in empty stadiums due to the costs saved by releasing players more readily.

The first question is everyone's head popped up shortly after the announcement... What would happen to Saracens? Sportsmail have now reported that there is momentum growing to welcome the club back into the Gallagher Premiership. But wait, there's more! Their counterparts in the Championship Ealing Trailfinders, are also the subject of talks now offering a buy-in route to the top flight in return for a large investment - that investment being the purchase of 'P' shares in the Premiership (worth approximately £20,000,000).

However, English Rugby HQ did reply to the speculation stating that they would not agree to these new stipulations.

What do you think? Should Saracens be allowed back into a ringfenced, new look division?
